Hello September!
/Summer is coming to an end. With school starting and the beginning of fall just around the corner, there are little glimpses of fall all around: a PSL Starbuck ad at Target, the fall clothing lineup during the Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, the amazing scent of apple cider in the form of Mrs. Meyers All-Purpose Spray, and my bank account as I try to acquire new, more fall-esque clothing (sorry Hubs!).
I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Florida this time of year. Booties and flannels are calling my name, but the weather is still screaming bikinis and beaches. I look forward to chilly-ish nights drinking hot chocolate on the patio, eating pumpkin bread, and spending time with family and friends.
This year I am looking forward to lots of fun activities and spending time with those I love. Macie is getting to an age where she will appreciate all of the fun like pumpkin carving and fall festivals. The girls are already discussing what Halloween costumes they want to wear this year.
With the start of Fall, I also feel a sense of renewal, almost as good as the New Year but just a touch different. The casual days of summer will soon be behind us and the days of Fall lie ahead.
This Fall here are some things we are looking forward to:
Family cruise in September
Decorating the house for Fall
Bonefish’s Apple Pie Martini
Fall Festivals and Pumpkin Patches
Pumpkin Carving
Disney Food and Wine Festival
School Halloween Parade
Halloween and Trick-or-Treating
Friendsgiving
Thanksgiving
Family Photos
In addition to these activities, I’m also looking forward to spending more time working on my writing. I’ve been lacking in the time I’ve been devoting to the Year of Creativity course as most weekends are spent hanging out in the pool. I am looking forward to spending time going over the lessons and just writing. Everything I have read in regards to writing pretty much says there is no secret recipe---you just need to write. You get better by putting pen to paper.
I am making a goal for myself to just write, even if just a page a day. I love the idea of writing something fictional but I feel I’m at a place mentally where there is no room for thought. After watching this Ted Talk, I realize I really need time to be mentally free from thoughts to allow creativity to come to me.
Overall, Fall is such a great time in our house. A time to look forward to the holidays ahead and appreciate what the year has brought. This Fall what are some things you are most looking forward to?
