Fall is Here---in spirit anyway

It’s October and we are in full Fall mode over here. The weather is still in the high 80’s but that’s ok—-it’s the same thing every year and I think considering the way 2020 is going, we will take fun wherever we can get it.

We were supposed to have Trunk or Treat at the girls’ school last night but it was canceled due to rain. To say the girls were bummed is a major understatement. I think, like all of us, they are really tired of things being canceled. Henley even said “We might as well never make plans again, everything keeps getting canceled.” The school pushed it to next weekend so it’s not totally cancelled and we will have just as much fun then.

Today the girls and I had some free time and I really wanted to do something fun and different to make up for the disappointment from last night. I decided to check out the Fall Festival at our local farm to see if they were still having it. It seemed like it was business as usual. We got there right as it opened so wasn’t busy and we were able to do everything we wanted.

The girls fed the fish, ducks, goats, and cows. We picked out some baby pumpkins to paint, enjoyed a snow cones, and made another pass at the animals before leaving. I think the baby goat fell in love with Macie (or he just really likes carrots). She decided we need to come back and visit him really soon.

I’ve learned this year to not only roll with the punches but to make fun whenever you have the opportunity, not only for the kiddos but for us as well. It was great seeing the girls so happy and having fun, all while being safe and wearing masks when necessary. I hope you’ve been able to have some fall fun with your families as well.
