My Good Reads of 2017 (& 2018 to Reads)

My Good Reads of 2017 (& 2018 to Reads)

I love reading. Even as a kid and teenager, I was always digging to a great book. I always have at least one book in my queue at all times and actually have to read before bed or it takes me forever to fall asleep. Similar to my love of music, my taste in books ranges from young adult to thought-provoking, murder mystery to trashy sex novel. I really do not discriminate.

Playroom Reveal

Playroom Reveal

Great news guys! The girls' playroom is finally complete! I am so excited to show you all. Some of you may remember from this post that I was frustrated with sleep situations and wanted a space for the girls to be able to enjoy their toys without destroying my house in the process. We went back and forth and finally landed on moving them together and turning Macie's room into a playroom. It has been over a month with them sharing a room and while they do have some nights where they end up with us, overall it has been great.

2018!

2018!

For the last few years, I have been lucky enough to take the week between Christmas and New Year's off from work. Prior to this, I would take a few days before Christmas off and use that time to finish up any last minute prep or shopping for Christmas but that usually left me feeling exhausted and wishing I was home to recover the days after. I have learned that having the time after Christmas to organize, clean, and declutter has been priceless.

Christmas Cookies

Christmas Cookies

Thinking back on my childhood Christmases, there are lots of great memories but a few memories stick out more than the others. I remember how much I loved our house at Christmas time. My mom decorated our home, changing out practically every decoration she could to replace it with something festive. It was so fun seeing our home transform into a Christmas wonderland. Besides the home, my mom's Christmas cookies are another thing I remember so vividly. I can't recall how long my mom would bake for or even exactly what kind of cookies she was making but I do remember our entire dining room table being stacked with bins and bins of cookies. My mom would give some away as gifts and keep the rest for our family. I still have my favorites and request them still to this day.

Five Years Later...

Five Years Later...

Five years ago I woke up to an unsure feeling. What was going on? Is this what Braxton Hicks feel like? I continued on to work, asking friends what labor felt like. I called a nurse who assured me it was likely Braxton Hicks. The pain continued throughout the day and eight hours later, I was in full on later, praying this precious, little peanut was coming soon.

Making a Gingerbread House

Making a Gingerbread House

Every year I attempt a gingerbread house. I buy the $10 kit and excitedly open it with the girls. We breeze past the instructions, tossing them aside as we open all of the cookies pieces and candy, ready to dive into this yummy adventure. We start throwing pieces together only to realize each piece needs time to set. This is not acceptable to young children. There is no patience to let icing dry, especially with stacks of sweet, delicious candy sprawled out in front of them. After multiple attempts to hold them off to allow for the house to dry, I give up and let them dive in.

Weekend Recap of all things Christmas!

Weekend Recap of all things Christmas!

Guys! We have been so busy that I have about ten posts to write about things we have been up to lately! I shared my Christmas Bucket List last week and we have been having so much fun doing lots of these things with the girls. Going into this month, I was looking forward to having both girls be at a good age to understand everything and it has definitely been so much fun. Henley and Macie both understand most of the things surrounding this season. They both are having a blast participating and have patience to sit through most of things. It's really been great.
